MYC Update

Over the past month, the Minister’s Youth Council presented the Minister for Youth with the results of the MYC’s survey conducted at YACFest, which was compiled into a “Youth Who Care” report. The results also helped to shape some of the key 2009/2010 priorities for the MYC. We also presented a report from our regional meeting and consultation entitled “Young People and Port Lincoln”, and a position paper investigating the integration between domestic and international students at South Australian universities.

The MYC is currently finalising their Annual Report for 2008 - 2009. The Annual Report presents an overview of the council’s focus areas, activities and achievements for the past financial year and outlines the progress made towards achieving their aims and objectives as a council.

If you’re interested in finding out more about the MYC, or have an issue you’re passionate about, get in touch with our Executive Officer on 8204 8473, email myc@saugov.sa.gov.au or visit www.officeforyouth.sa.gov.au

There's More To It Than You Think Campaign

What: There's More To It Than You Think is a new website to help young people discover more about themselves, give them some ideas about careers in South Australia and get them to see there’s a whole more to your interests than you think.

The site won’t tell you what career you should have; no-one can tell you that because the job you end up doing may not even exist yet! But what it can do is give you some guidance and some things to think about.

You can also WIN BIG! There are 5 exclusive work experiences to be won, involving fighter jets, helicopter trips, going down a working mine and more. You just have a post a story online – too easy! But hurry, entries close at the end of each month.
