Youth Advisory Committees

YACs get young people involved in localised decision-making through involvement in local councils and other community organisations.

YACs sit down with decision-makers and express a youth voice on a range of issues affecting young people.

But YACs don’t just provide advice; they take action!

YAC members get to organise youth and community events and often lead these projects.

These activities:

• celebrate and promote youth achievements
• address current issues
• encourage all young people to take an interest, have their say and participate in their communities.

The program provides grants to local councils to establish, develop and strengthen their committees.
