The Duke of Edinburgh's Award

The Duke of Ed is a fantastic program created for all young people aged 14-25 years old. The Duke of Ed expands personal horizons and explores potential talents and interests. The program has four sections which are intended to provide a balanced program reflecting different aspects of a young person’s development.

The participants can design their own unique program which covers activities in the areas of physical recreation, skill, service and adventurous journeys. The Award is a personal challenge and not a competition against others. Each participant’s program is tailor-made to reflect the individual’s abilities and interests.

There are many benefits for young people to get involved in the Duke of Ed. Young people will develop self-confidence and self-reliance; gain a sense of achievement and responsibility; discover new skills; develop leadership skills. They will also discover exciting opportunities; make new friends; experience teamwork; problem solving and decision-making; increase their motivation and have fun!

The Duke of Ed is also widely recognised by employers and education providers. Award recipients will also receive accreditation towards their SACE (South Australian Certificate of Education).

If you would like to know how your school or organisation can get involved in delivering the Duke of Ed or if you are a young person and wants to know how to get started, please contact Dinah Bond, Glen Christie or Roshan Wilson.
