Planning for meetings

It is very important to spend time planning for a meeting.

If you are the person who is organising the meeting then you will need to work out:

· who needs to be at the meeting

· when and where the meeting will be held

· what needs to be discussed at the meeting?

· what decisions need to be made?

You will then need to create an agenda and make sure everyone receives it with enough time to prepare for the meeting.

If you are attending a meeting, it is also important that you prepare by:

· reading over the minutes of the last meeting – are they correct? Was there anything you were meant to do before the next meeting?

· reading over the agenda - is if there is any background information you will need to find out before meeting?

· letting the organiser of the meeting know if you will be unable to attend.
