Youth Consultation Toolkit

The toolkit contains examples of consultation models that can be used in a variety of settings, ranging from holding forums to conducting surveys.

The toolkit also contains information on how to plan a consultation with young people and provides advice on gaining consent to consult with young people.

Premier's Memorandum on Youth Participation  

The Premier’s Memorandum on Youth Participation expresses the government’s commitment to extending opportunities for young people. 

The purpose of the Premier’s Memorandum is to increase the numbers of young people involved in government and community decision-making processes. 

The Memorandum calls for all state government agencies, local councils and community organisations to publicly express their commitment to youth participation by signing up to the Memorandum.   

The Office for Youth will provide a range of training, resources and expertise to organisations committed to the Premier’s Memorandum, to support a holistic approach to youth participation throughout South Australia. This includes: 

  • Youth Participation Training (free for all agencies who are interested in how to involve young people in decision-making)
  • Youth Participation Register (a list of young people interested in participating in consultations, forums, and workshops)
  • Youth Participation Grants (provided to agencies to support consultation with young people)
  • Youth Consultation Information (practical information on how to plan and run consultations with young people)
  • Policy advice and support.

The Office for Youth also has a broad range of networks that can link organisations with suitable information or services.
