Congratulations to the Judge Hora A-Team!

The Judge Hora A-Team, made up of 20 young people, presented their final recommendations for change on Tuesday 20 April 2010 to the Thinker in Residence, Judge Peggy Fulton Hora (ret), and the Minister for Youth, the Hon Grace Portolesi.

The A-Team’s recommendations were about two important areas:
 - exploring alternative options to dispute resolution in schools
-  public confidence in the South Australian justice system.

Their recommendations were very well received by Judge Hora and the audience. Well done A-Team!

The Office for Youth A-Teams

The A-Team program is an on-going partnership between the Office for Youth and Adelaide Thinkers in Residence (ATIR) which aims to bring young people’s ideas and energy straight to the heart of government decision making.

It is an exciting initiative that brings together young people from a range of agencies and perspectives to address challenges facing our community.

The partnership with ATIR gives young people access to outstanding international thinkers who provide mentor-style support to the teams. Panels of South Australian leaders in the public sector, industry and academia work with the A-Team to provide an insight into the topic under discussion, to answer the A-Teams’ questions and give the participants the opportunity to reality test their recommendations. This high level input and mentoring gives participants the confidence to tackle difficult policy areas, think about how government decisions affect people, develop their leadership skills and networks.
