Tell It Like It Is – Listening to Young South Australians

The Office for Youth in partnership with the Community Engagement Board is conducting state wide consultations with young people aged 12 to 25 on the topic of South Australia’s Strategic Plan (SASP) targets.

The consultations will ensure that:

  • government agencies know what matters to young people
  • young South Australians in regional areas are consulted
  • young people contribute to the next Office for Youth action plan for young people.

We want to make sure that young people’s voices are heard and we are particularly interested in hearing from disadvantaged or disengaged young people.

How you can be involved

  • By attending a consultation in your local area.
  • By inviting us to meet with you at a service or school.
  • By completing a questionairre
What do we want to know?

The Office for Youth has worked with state government agencies involved with young people to discover what issues they would like young people’s views on. The questions that guide the consultations are the result of these meetings. A range of topics will be covered including health, public transport, the environment, homelessness, communication and volunteering.

What happens after the consultations?

All information gathered will be analysed and distributed back to participating agencies. A summary of the information provided by the consultation participants will be provided on this website, including what the information is being used for.

Following the consultations government agencies will establish strategies that address the issues raised by young people.

The findings will also be considered by the Intra-government Youth Action Committee, a senior officers group coordinated by the Office for Youth.

Consultations are being held throughout regional South Australia. See the list of consultation dates, past and present, listed on the left handside of this page.
